Some guys suggest spraying a 1:1, and finally a 1:3 with mostly clear, followed by pure clear. If you have done it in the past with lacquer, just follow your traditional mix.

Just because the 2 paints are compatible does not mean you can just dump all 4 parts into a can and mix with good results. Make sure each paint and activator is thoroughly mixed in the correct ratio, before mixing the 2 different paints together. However, if you do want to do it this way because that is what you are comfortable with, you can. There is no need to use this method with modern urethane single stage paint. They used to be the standard paint if you were spraying candy, metal flake or pearl, and they would produce a finish that looked a mile deep. So, to answer your question, reduce it and shoot it. Chemically all it does is pollute the mix. Spit don't belong in soup and hardener don't belong in a non-catilized paint. Its like saying that if the cook spits in the soup it will be better. They think it will make the paint more durable. There are guys who insist on putting a hardener into paints which do not require them. Your question is confusing but after reading it a couple of times it seems you've got some standard urethane base coat and all you need to do is reduce it as appropriate and shoot it.
